About MoneySense for Schools

As the world faces the challenges of the economic downturn, the need to equip young people with the skills and knowledge to manage their finances effectively has never been more pressing. The MoneySense programme teaches students aged 11–18 important life-skills needed to manage money so they can thrive in today's society and be prepared for independent living and future financial decisions.

The programme has been developed in conjunction with teachers, who understand more than anyone what it takes to engage the attention of today's children and young people in the classroom.

To date, the programme has a presence in over 60% of secondary schools in the UK. Each year our RBS group employees deliver MoneySense lessons to over 330,000 young people. We review and update our programme on an ongoing basis to ensure that it remains current and relevant.

The RBS group believes that an informed and financially capable generation will be a successful one and is committed to delivering on this priority.

Delivered in 4 modules, the MoneySense programme covers such basics as how to open a bank account, how to manage money on a day to day basis, budgeting and how to run a business. Using the web and the classroom, the programme provides teachers with stimulating, easy to use lesson plans, activities and resources which all fit in with the National Curriculum and Every Child Matters.

Comprehensive teacher’s notes, including curriculum links, print resources and activity sheets are provided within each of the module. You will need to register to access the teacher’s notes, go to the registration/ log in page.

Further information for teachers is available on the For Teachers page.
